Over 500 law enforcement officers and prosecutors attended the second annual National Cyber Crime Conference this week in Norwood, MA.  The conference is hosted by Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley in partnership with Microsoft, the National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute, the National White Collar Crime Center and SEARCH.  BitSec Global Forensics™ co-sponsored the event providing each participant a USB thumb drive containing conference materials.

On Monday, BitSec’s Sr. VP of Technology Mike Webber facilitated two lab sessions titled “Google for Investigators”.    Google for Investigators was designed by BitSec  to enable investigators to leverage the advanced search features of Google to find relevant data in a more timely and efficient fashion.  As was the case in 2012, both lab sessions reached capacity quickly during the registration process.    The presentation concluded with a hands-on scenario in which Webber led participants through a search for social media content believed to have been posted by one of the Boston bombing suspects.

Also presenting at the conference were representatives from the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, local and State police, the Massachusetts judicial branch and industry leaders in digital forensics and cyber crime investigations.  Attendees included law enforcement officers from around the U.S. and as far away as Puerto Rico.  The vendor area included best of bread solutions in cell phone forensics, forensic software and imaging devices, and academia.
