Gary C. Kessler is a consultant, educator, and practitioner in the areas of
computer and network forensics, mobile device forensics, computer and
network security, TCP/IP and the Internet, and computer networking. From
2000 to the present, Gary has been an Associate Professor at at Champlain
College in Burlington, Vermont, where he started the Computer & Digital
Forensics (on-campus and online), Computer Networking, and Information
Security majors, the M.S. in Digital Investigation Management program, and
the Champlain College Center for Digital Investigation. In addition, Gary is
an adjunct associate professor at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Western
Australia and a member of the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children
(ICAC) Task Force.
Gary is a Certified Computer Examiner (CCE), Certified Information Systems
Security Professional (CISSP), and Digital Forensics Certified Practitioner
(DFCP). He is also an associate editor of the Journal of Digital Forensics
Practice and the associate editor-in-chief of the Journal of Digital
Forensics, Security and Law. Gary has also written two books and over sixty
articles and papers. He is also active in academic and industry conferences,
such as HTCIA, Mobile Forensics World, and TechnoSecurity.
Gary holds a B.A. in Mathematics, an M.S. in Computer Science, and an Ed.S.
in Computing Technology in Education (CTE). He is currently pursuing a Ph.D
in CTE.
Gary serves as a senior consultant to the U.S. State Department, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Office of Anti Terrorism Assistance Program consulting with international law enforcement agencies and government institutions so that they can acquire the skills needed to detect, prevent, and investigate incidents related to cyber terrorism and cyber crime.
Gary currently holds a National Security Clearance.
